Modafinil is a wakefulness-promoting stimulant primarily used for the treatment of narcolepsy and other sleep disorders. It primarily acts by inhibiting the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine as well as by modulating the orexin system. The substance has a lower potential for abuse than classic stimulants but can cause side effects with improper use. Modafinil is also used off-label to enhance cognitive performance.

Risks
Safer Use
The risks listed may be incomplete. Especially for research chemicals and rare substances, available data is limited.
Interaction data is based on known mechanisms. Unknown or rare interactions are possible and may be life-threatening.
